Bulldog

We founded this ledger with a clear mission: to create and preserve the Bulldog — a muscular, blocky, family-first companion that is unmistakably Bulldog in type.

We are not building just another registry — this is a ledger, a permanent and transparent record of bulldogs that meet this standard.

For too long, Bulldog registries have allowed the breed to drift. Some dogs are bred too lean and terrier-like, losing the powerful, blocky look that defines a Bulldog. Others have been exaggerated to the point of dysfunction, focusing on extremes at the expense of health and stability.

Our standard draws a clear line:

  • This is not a pitbull.
  • This is not a boxer.
  • This is not a guard dog, a police dog, or a hunting dog.
  • This is the family Bulldog — muscular, stable, and bred to thrive in today’s households.

Correcting the drift

The Bulldog should be stout, muscular, and blocky — unmistakably Bulldog , with a family‑first temperament. Recent trends pushed the breed toward thin, sporty types that aren't impressive and don't fit that purpose.

Many programs still struggle with consistency. That inconsistency confuses the public about what a Bulldog should be and look like, and it widens the range of both type and temperament.

Historically, some programs mixed breeds to create Bulldogs, but the proportions varied and results were inconsistent. Today many rely on American Bulldog × English Bulldog; while it can work, it often introduces instability that conflicts with a dependable family companion. The American Bulldog and English Bulldog are very different dogs; combining them tends to introduce large variance that is difficult to control over generations.

Our stance: the American Bully best matches our vision now — bringing neck, mass, and the steady temperament we value. By standardizing on only the American Bully as the allowable outcross, we put the breed in the best position to breed true — tightening type and temperament generation after generation.

Policy (time‑bound)

  • We will allow F1 American Bully × Bulldog registrations for the next five years. (or until the breed is stabilized)
  • Goal: reinforce Bulldog type and temperament while the breed stabilizes.
  • Other F1 crosses will not be accepted.
